Whoa--where did the summer go?? Um...did we skip August?? Anyways, if you are wondering what has taken me so long to post, the title of this entry should say it all! Since Katy's birthday --actually--since summer started--I feel like we have been going non stop. The moms in our mommies group all thought we would be playing like everyday in the summer--ha! We are blessed if we can get together once a week! Sheesh! (Uh--did I just say--er--type that???) So, what, you may ask, have we been doing? Well, for starters, we moved Katy into her "big girl" room. That has taken a few weeks! We actually swap our room with hers. Bye bye nursery and bye bye baby days! Katy has been sleeping in her big girl twin bed for a few weeks now. I was nervous, thinking she wouldnt want to get in it--or even stay in it, but she just loves it! She has been in it from the second night on--ok--not technically--I cheated on the first night--at 10 pm I went in to check on her and she looked WAY too grown up in that big bed....so....I moved her sleeping little body right back to her crib! Tim wasnt thrilled with me. ;) Oh well! The next night she (and I) made it through the night! Tim and I were so proud! We actually went and stood over her crib just watching her sleep and sighing at how fast she has gone from that tiny baby we brought home from the hospital to this little girl sleeping in a real bed! :( Sad! Oh well...I guess it has to happen. Anyways, check out the pictures of before and after!
Here I am painting over my beautiful olive paint....good thing I love the kid! ;) The edging is almost finished...
This is the bedding and a couple of the dragon flies that will hang in the room...
The "base" paint is finished! Look like hills and sky??
Moved in the furniture...too bad I took the crib apart and rebuilt it again just to figure out that she doesnt need it anymore! :{ grrr... (also--the decorations are not placed yet, just tossed around for now)
THis is the same dormer window that I showed you up top being edged.
Her armoir is built and in place! (oh--check out the pillow I quilted for her at a women's ministry night! :) yeah me!)
Katy's Big girl twin beg with the bedding on it! Some of the murals are up...mostly flowers and bugs at this point...
This is one of the first trees Tim painted. More to come...birds and small animals, too! A close up of some of the bees I did! :) Notice the smiles on the bees, Shelley...that means they are FRIENDLY bees! hahah! ;)
Seeing the room for the first time!
She started dancing!
"Wow Mommy--look at those butterflies...how did they get in here...and why arent they moving?"
Playing with some of her stuffed animals in her bed!
Reading herself a book! :) This is what she does when she wakes up in the morning!
Ok, so big girl room is almost done and now Im on to the next big project--finding Katy a preschool! Yeah- a preschool. I got offered a long term subbing position at my favorite school in Waterville, where my best friend, Holly, works! Yea!! I will be working one on one with a 5th grade boy, and Holly teaches 5th grade, so we will get to have lunch together a ton! :) God is just so good to us! Seriously! I think it was Tuesday night when Tim and I were sitting on the couch discussing finances and looking at going into another long winter with high oil costs (and just about everything else for that matter--uh--hello--when did eggs and milk get to be sooo expensive!! :( grrr!) Anyhow, Tim came up with a dollar amount that he thought I should "aim" at trying to make subbing and possibly taking a few kids after school...so...gues how much I am going to be making...yeah--Not only the amount Tim said to aim for, but also the money to pay for Katy to attend preschool three days a week (Tim is going to stay home with her twice a week) and to cover the tithe--like almost to the dollar! hhahhahha! God--you totally AMAZE me! :) Ok, so I think I found the right one for Katy. They have circle time and activities, outdoor play time on the totally cool playground and an inside gym time! They even go on field trips to the apple orchard, the pool (the indoor heated one) and the library! How cool is that! Her class only has 5 other little girls in it, too, so she should get some pretty good learning time. :) I am excited for her--sad--but excited! I went today and got her a little pink lunch box and a small pillow to take for nap time. Man--I just cant believe she is old enough for all of this! :(
